Love Letter to Mexico

Mexico — you are wild, warm, and full of soul.

You welcomed me when I was searching, not just for a place, but for a sense of belonging. And here, in Puerto Escondido, I found home — not because it was perfect or polished, but because it was real.

I love this land for its contrasts: the mountains meeting the sea, the stillness of sunrise followed by the rhythm of drums at sunset. I love your rich history, where ancient civilizations whisper through ruins and rituals, and where spirituality is not a trend, but a way of being — seamlessly woven into the fabric of daily life.

Here, I’ve found nourishment beyond food — though the food is something else. The abundance of fruits, like mangoes sweet from the sun, tamales wrapped with care, tortillas made with love. Meals that feed not just the body, but the spirit.

But what I cherish most is the people. The easy warmth. The way strangers greet each other on the street. The sense of community, of shared space, shared rhythm, shared celebration. There’s always music in the air, always a reason to dance, always a reason to say sí a la vida.

Some might call it chaotic. But to me, it’s a beautiful, breathing pulse. Life here is simple — not always easy, but more easeful. I feel accepted, seen, held. I wasn’t born here, but Mexico claimed my heart as one of its own.

Puerto Escondido, with your open arms and ocean breeze — you gave me a place to land, to grow, to stay.

Gracias, México. Mi corazón es tuyo.,

With Love,

Flo
